Jersey City police charged a Bayonne woman with driving while intoxicated after her SUV crashed and she told cops she had been studying and had some wine and PCP for the stress, officials said.
Berthlee M. Sheppard, 30, of West 54th Street, was arrested on Neptune Avenue at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday and charged with DWI, reckless driving and driving across the sidewalk, reports said.
Officers responding to the location found a distraught Sheppard standing outside her SUV, which had struck a fence, reports said, adding that she was unable to complete sentences and appeared under the influence of a narcotic.
Sheppard told police that “due to stress she had a few glasses of wine and also smoked PCP marijuana on Dwight Street,” reports said. She was placed under arrest and taken to the Jersey City Medical Center, where a blood sample was to be drawn, reports said.
